How to take a hit on your personal/company brand and come out on top

The other day on Twitter, I was following a friend who tweeted about a new contest service a web applications company made for a well known hotel chain. Because my day job involves running a web applications company that creates successful web apps based on the Twitter API, I was intrigued on how the service would work as well as supporting other developers. So I signed up. As was the protocol the contest company agreed to when I signed up. No more than 1 retweet. Needless to say, they screwed up big time. Because of the programmers not testing the….

Thoughts on New Media for Non-Profits

We at Geek Girl are very proud of volunteering our time last Friday for a worthwhile event. Suffolk University, the renown Boston school, also has a Cape Cod extension where they put on some pretty cool programs for the locals. This particular event was about New Media for Non-Profits and it was infiltrated by about 150 non-profits, not-for-profits and charities all around Cape Cod and the South Shore. In less than one week, as I type this,….

Twitter Discovery Search: Search = Money

I am one of the fortunate subsets that has the new Twitter Discovery Search on my web-based Twitter profile to test out, and I am elated that Twitter has done this on their own homepage! Is that real-time search THAT important? You Bet. In a tweet this morning from someone I respect in the world of investment, especially in Internet companies, Howard Lindzon said,”Twitter is fun and all but it’s all about the search when it comes to money .” And he is right. At my web development company, data and search is huge in everything we build. Think of….
