Let’s Get Visible: Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile with Anchor Text
Do you have a LinkedIn profile? Are you still not impressed with it? Chances are you are not maximizing and optimizing it for what it’s worth, especially with specific links and anchor text.
Here’s how to improve your profile for optimization. On your profile, you have links for your website(s) and blogs. If the anchor text still says, “My Company” and “My Blog”, you are obviously missing out on some great search data for Google and other search engines. Try this instead. Look at the image to the left where the red circle is (click on the image for a larger view). The “Websites” area shows not only links, but they also provide some anchor text for the Google bots to pick up. Instead of “My Company”, it says the name of the company (StockTwits or Social Leverage) with some keywords (Finance Community or VC/Advisors). Instead of “My Blog” it says the blog name (Geek Girl Camp) and some keywords (Women in Tech). Along with links. Links are very important to add as well for Inbound Marketing.
Now, try doing this yourself with your own company or companies and blog(s) and adding a key word or two to the text. And if you really want to see if it makes a difference, do a search now of yourself before you change the anchor text and then do another search in a couple of months to see the improved visibility of your profile.
Now, everyone, let’s be like Olivia Newton-John and sing, “Let’s Get Visible, Visible…I wanna get Visible…Let’s get into Visible…”
