Top 10 List for Getting the Most out of Boot Camp This Week

10.) Don’t be Overwhelmed; the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!

9.) Obey the Law of Two Feet; If you’re not learning what you want to learn, you have every right to exit the workshop/discussion group/demo you’re in and go to a different one, or none at all. Take charge of your Geek Girl Camp experience – it is only as good as YOU make it.

8.) Obey the Law of Null Space: You are very likely to learn the most in the spaces between Workshops at the Discussion Groups, Demos, Help Desk, when you can just talk and hang out with people. Be ready! Have your business cards handy, your notebook out, and be ready to learn at the most unlikely times.

7.) Divide and Conquer: Work with your friends/colleagues to each take a different workshop, then regroup and go over the workshops together.

6.) Pay Attention to the Speaker – the presentation will be online later to review, but the Speaker will not. Listen to the Speaker. Ask questions. If you still do not understand, ask again or ask the speaker after the workshop at an appropriate time so as not to take too much time from the workshop, and from other attendees.

5.) Ask Questions! You have no one to blame but yourself if you leave without answers!

4.) Use The Essential Geek Girl Conference and Resource Handbook for all your notes to keep them in one place to save for a long time to come. And check out all the cool advertisers and valuable content!

3.) There will be Problems today. We guarantee it. Nothing and no one is perfect. But, the ability to overcome them and find solutions is the Geek Girl way!

2.) Please realize, we are mostly all Volunteers, in a volunteer organization, trying to make a difference. We all have full-time jobs in our real lives. Try to walk around and say “Awesome Job!” to as many speakers, organizers and volunteers as you can – we will all appreciate it and it will create wonderful energy in the room!

1.) And Most of all, Have Fun! This is an educational event, but it is also a fun event for learning, making friends, networking and hanging with an extraordinary group of women!
