Janel Kesten
Janel is excited to be back for an extended round of Geek Girl Boot Camps! She returned to the Cape and New England Reprographics after receiving a B.F.A. from Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then she’s provided simple yet functional creative solutions to the business community. Janel regularly attends MacWorld and Photoshop World Conferences to stay ahead of the curve, but quickly realized many people were light years behind her. That’s when she decided to pass along her excitement for all things Adobe® and help educate her fellow Cape Codders in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign classes at Sandwich Community School. For a smaller dose of tech goodies, check out her weekly Photoshop tips on @Bar, the Cape’s only technology blog.

When I first heard about Geek Girl Camp, I immediately wanted to know what I could do to get involved and help this great idea grow and help more women. Tom and I started our company TRB Design, Inc. in 2002 to help companies grow their presence and marketing power on the web with leading internet strategies and video. We host and manage several websites including our own GymSmarts, a site devoted to instructional gymnastics material, and GymSmartsCommunity, a blog community for gymnastic coaches. Additionally we develop, host and manage many local and national sites, and develop and manage sites in Linkedin and Facebook, Youtube, and Flickr for companies. With years of experience in travel marketing and promotion, organizing charitable organizations and events, managing youth sports teams I bring a diverse background to what our company can offer. For Geek Girl Camps we offer our expertise in video for the web and Wordpress. Keeping up with the latest technologies is a challenge, we do it by actively participating in great technology groups and events such as Podcamp Boston and Boston MediaMakers meetings, we have spoken at NewB Camp in Providence, and the South Shore Ad Club about video and social media.
Paula Hersey
Chief Penguin reporting for active duty at Geek Girl Boot Camp! As a self taught Geek Girl, I believe in sharing the wonders of technology with others and being a part of Geek Girl Boot Camp again this year offers me the opportunity to share my passion for all things Internet related and to help other women to take control of their technical chaos. After a fifteen year career in Retail Sales, Management and Marketing it was time to embark on the career I never dreamed of- owning my own Web Design and Development company, Penguin Digital Design. Using a multitude of skills from the retail world, and a life long thirst for knowledge, I began to teach myself the basics of computer repair/maintenance, HTML, Photoshop and Dreamweaver using on-line tutorials, books and videos. As the Internet is an ever evolving medium, it seems every day brings another exciting chance to learn how to present information on the web in a visually appealing and user friendly way. We help our clients understand how their website fits into their overall marketing and help them to understand how important a professional website can be to their existing and potential customers. I have the uncanny ability to communicate the most technologically complicated issues in “lay man’s terms’ and therefore have the talent to diminish the irrational fear people have of technology by making it user-friendly for them.

June Bertucci
June Bertucci, President and founder of Small Office Computer Support, has been “getting her geek on” for more than 24 years. As a presenter at the first ever Geek Girl Camp, she can’t wait for the opportunity to share her knowledge of computers and technology at this year’s expanded Geek Girl Boot Camp. June’s career with technology started out in the early 80’s, when she headed the data operations department of a major bank. It quickly became apparent that she had the magic touch with computers and a natural skill for troubleshooting problems. She went on to manage computer operations on a national level for one of the largest law firms in Boston. In the early nineties June relocated to Cape Cod, where she worked for a hiring process management company that was to become part of Monster.com. Those who work with June enjoy her high energy and enthusiasm, and they gain great peace of mind from her exceptional expertise in technology. June’s goal is to help her clients fully utilize technology. She welcomes the opportunity to bring her extraordinary knowledge to an even wider audience at Geek Girl Boot Camp!
