Happy 40th Birthday, Pong

Before there was Master Chief of Halo, Assassin’s Creed, and even Angry Birds, there was Pong.

For those of you who might be too young for this, Pong was one of the first video arcade games, created by Atari on November 29th, 1972. Some think that because of its success it spurred on the video game industry to what it is today.

It may look simplistic, but when I was a wittle tadpole, this was cutting edge. I had Pong for my tv – right next to my 40 pound Magnavox VC player – and I played that all the time. I loved it!

While we reached the age of lifelike graphics, exceptional detail and multi-million dollar sales in the video game insustry, let’s all take a moment look back, reflect and salute Pong and its accomplishments.

And feel free to play a little Pong today for sentimental reasons.

Did you grow up with Pong?
